BRASELTON, Ga. (Sept. 30, 2022) – Al Autosport with JDC Motorsports closes out its debut season with champagne showers across the board.
The No. 23 Al Autosport Duqueine D08 finished the 2022 IMSA Prototype Challenge championship in second place, secured through its second-place finish during the season finale at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta. The early autumn morning race through plenty of curve balls the teams way with low temperatures and a handful of full course cautions. Amidst the chaos the duo of Memo Gidley and Alexander Koreiba found clarity in their well-prepared Duqueine D08, rocketing to the podium for one final time to showcase the true strength of the program.
Gidley concluded a stellar season with a first-row start. From the drop of the green flag he found himself locked in a hard battle for first place; this fight would last through the entirety of his 45-minute stint. Amidst this battle, Gidley was also plagued by two full course cautions adding a level of complexity to managing the car and tires.
As the pit windows opened Gidley piloted the No. 23 into pitlane to hand the reins to teammate Koreiba. Koreiba buckled in for what would be a thrilling stint at a cool and slippery Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta. He experienced a duo of full course cautions that cut into his victory charge; however, he was still able to advance to second place. From there Koreiba pushed to catch the leader and the top step of the podium but unfortunately was thwarted by lapped traffic.

QUOTE BOARD
Memo Gidley, Driver of the No. 23 Al Autosport with JDC Duqueine D08
“We were just giving it all we could, so at the start the goal was to be the first car into Turn 1,” Gidley said. “I got a good jump, timed it just right, and was able to get ahead and pull a gap. The car wasn’t really coming up to temperature so it was loose and slippery which set me back a bit, so at that point I just settled in and kept it smooth so I could hand the car off to Alexander in a good position.”
Alexander Koreiba, Driver of the No. 23 Al Autosport with JDC Duqueine D08
“Once I got in and settled the car became a rocket ship in the middle of the stint,” Koreiba said. “After the first yellow came out it came up to temperature nicely, it took a bit longer than usual but that can be expected in these cooler temperatures. I had two restarts which went pretty well. It basically was the same story as VIR, where I got caught in lapped traffic and first place was sitting just ahead of it all. We were basically matching each others pace so I would have loved to get up there and race. After the final restart tire degradation became an issue and I just had to hang on.”
