Fast-Paced Race Ends with Strong Points for Al Autosports’ No. 23

BOWMANVILLE, ON. (July 3, 2022) – AL Autosport with JDC Motorsports enjoyed a strong debut at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park for Round 3 of IMSA Prototype Challenge.

After a two-year hiatus from the venue due to the pandemic the IMSA Prototype Challenge field was eager to take to the fast and sweeping, 10 turn, 2.5-mile course just outside of Toronto, Ontario. The No. 23 AL Autosport Duqueine D08 piloted by Memo Gidley and Alexander Koreiba was no exception to this excitement as the pair took in the track for the first time as teammates. After quickly acclimating to the venue the duo dialed in the No. 23 for an action-packed race that would result in a fifth-place finish and good championship points.

As the 2022 season progresses Gidley has displayed the strength and consistency that has become synonymous with his name over the past two decades. After taking the green flag for Round 3 from second place he forged a sizeable gap to the competitor behind while chasing down the first-place car. With 44-minutes remaining Gidley piloted the No. 23 into pitlane from second position to hand the reins to teammate Koreiba.

As the clock ticked down Koreiba rejoined the pack for his maiden race at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park. A small excursion in Turn 10 due to cold tires would temporarily thwart Koreiba’s charge to the front, however, a late race full course caution would lend him an additional opportunity to move up the leaderboard. A clean restart and some fancy footwork by Koreiba would allow him to move the No. 23 into fifth place, where he would finish the event.

The No. 23 AL Autosport Duqueine D08 faces another six-week break before Round 4 at VIRginia International Raceway, August 26-28. The weekend will serve as the penultimate round, with the finale following shortly thereafter at MICHELIN Raceway Road Atlanta, September 28 – October 1. QUOTE BOARD

Memo Gidley, Driver of the No. 23 Al Autosport Duqueine D08
“It was a great and fun qualifying session,” Gidley said. “Tonis was pushing very hard and he knew how close I was, so we both stayed out the entire session trying to grab that pole. I thought I had it at the end but he sneaked one in just 1/10 quicker! My plan in the race was to keep him insight and try to put pressure on him if possible. He was very strong so I just settled in and went easy on the car to pass it off to Alexander so he could go for a podium. Alexander was impressive all weekend and pushing to make that happen when we had a spin. I know we can make up points in the last two races. We will have a shot I am sure at those races for wins in the No. 23 AL Autosport with JDC Duqueine LMP3 and I’m just excited to make that happen.”

Alexander Koreiba, Driver of the No. 23 Al Autosport Duqueine D08
“CTMP quickly became my favorite track I’ve ever raced this weekend,” Koreiba said. “In the first practice session I fell in love with the high commitment and unbelievable speeds throughout CTMP. From the first practice to the end of the race, it was a battle. Obviously, I’m disappointed in myself after putting us a few spots down after the spin, but I can assure you, I will come back stronger. The AL Autosport with JDC No. 23 Duqueine team will be a serious force to be reconned with to the end of this championship.”
