P1 Groupe, the premier motorsports management company announces that it has been retained by GRAND-AM star Memo Gidley for all of his management needs including marketing, branding, and overall management. Gidley has wowed racing fans across the world since starting his professional career in the 90’s. Gidley is already excited about the 2011 season and has re-signed with Team Sahlens for the GRAND-AM Rolex Series in the GT class Mazda RX-8. Coupled with teaming up with P1 Groupe, Gidley is looking forward to a championship season that will bring him greater exposure and allow him to show his racing prowess to an ever growing fan base.
“I have gotten to a point in my career where I am extremely busy racing, finding more racing opportunities, working with companies whose products I endorse, and promoting myself and my racing,” said Memo Gidley. “Frankly, it can be hard to find the time managing all of this on a daily basis. Even though having a management group to help is a real asset for many reasons, finding a person and group that represents a person well can be a real challenge. Over the course of my career I have developed the reputation as a no-nonsense, honest and hard working driver that under promises and over delivers. I needed a manager and a management company that has these qualities and shares in this philosophy. Not only does Eric Burch have these qualities, but he and his staff at P1 Groupe are well respected and have contacts in the racing industry to keep my career going in a positive direction.”
“I also have numerous personal endorsement programs with various companies,” continued Gidley. “Not only do I essentially work for these companies, but the owners are now my personal friends. It is critical to me to have an equally solid management company help me to manage these programs so that I can continue to expand on the positive experience that they have come to expect from being associated with me. I am looking forward to working with the P1 management group in 2011 and beyond.”
Gidley is considered one of the most popular stars in the GRAND-AM Rolex Series. In 2010, he drove in eight of the 12 scheduled races for Doran Racing in the Daytona Prototype Class before switching for drives in the GT class with Team Sahlens. In Gidley’s eight DP starts he managed seven Top-10’s and two Top-5’s. In his two GT starts he finished in the Top-10 on both occasions. Two thousand and nine was also a strong season for Gidley racing for Doran Racing where he earned three Top-10s and drove in 7 of the 12 scheduled races. Gidley began his racing career racing everything from FF2000, to Late Model Stock Cars, to the Toyota Atlantic Series where he had numerous race wins and championships. Because of his natural ability and work ethic, Memo went from a race fan to driving for the powerhouse Walker Racing in the Champ Car Indy Car Series in only seven short years. Gidley went on to amass 38 race starts with Walker Racing, Dale Coyne Racing, Players-Forsythe Racing, Della Penna Motorsports, Target Chip Ganassi Racing, and Rocketsports Racing in CART. During this time he amassed 3 podiums, four Top-5’s and numerous Top-10’s while leading 230 laps in the CART Series in those 38 race starts.
“We are proud that Memo has chosen P1 Groupe to manage his career going forward,” said Eric Burch, President of P1 Groupe. “Memo has so many of the qualities necessary to make our job that much easier. Any company would go forward with confidence with Memo being the face of their brand, not only as a spokesperson, but also in his performance behind the wheel. I’m confident the combination of Memo Gidley and P1 Groupe will be a very successful one both on and off the track!”
