MEMO GIDLEY AND THE "A" TEAM MAKE A HUGE IMPRESSION IN NORTHERN CALIFORNIA INDOOR KARTING FACILITY PDF Print E-mail
Wednesday, 17 October 2007
Memo Gidley, accomplished open wheel racecar driver, shifter kart champion and pilot of the #77 KODAK Doran Racing Daytona Prototype recently completed two Secrets of Speed Indoor Karting Clinics to amazing reviews from participants.

"Man, that was cool!'" states Gidley from his home in Northern California. "The students were fun and it was great to see their improvement over the event," continues Gidley as he prepares for the Super Karts Event at VIR in December.  "The unique environment of indoor tracks makes going fast very difficult.  But once you have an understanding of what you need to do, the speed can come very quickly.  Even the most experienced indoor   drivers at this clinic were surprised by how much they improved."

A big part of the success goes to the "A" Team, a top-notch group of instructors hand picked by Memo which included Ron White, Tom Dyer, Landon Yee and Brett Buckwalter.  "Each of these talented drivers has National level racing experience and championships both in karts and cars. They brought a level of insight to the participants that is second to none," says Gidley.  "I will never compromise on the talent of my instructors."

"I can't begin to describe how thrilled Memo and I are with the weekends events," states Secrets of Speeds co-author Jeff Grist. "The entire crew at GoKart Racer were amazing and the instructors did a fantastic job. Memo's ability to build a world class team to support him really sets him apart from the rest," continues Grist.

With full groups on Friday and Saturday, the program was not only well received by all students, including the tracks top drivers, it also received top marks from the indoor facility, Go-Kart Racer.

"Just about every one of the students has told me personally that they were very happy with the school, and would not hesitate to do it again. Thanks for such a well planned and executed driving school," comments Dave Robison, General Manager of GoKart Racer.

With the Memo Gidley Secrets of Speed Indoor Program now underway, Gidley and Grist are busy booking dates for 2008.

The success of the Secrets of Speed series is proof positive that there is a strong appetite for more information and insight into the mechanics and dynamics of karting. Feeding that pent up demand is the single-minded focus for both Memo Gidley and writing partner Jeff Grist.

With three successful titles under their belt and three more Memo Gidley Secrets of Speed books to come, this writing duo feel they understand what kart racers are looking for in a how to-book. Being selected to work on other projects by publishers like Motorbooks is proof this writing team is on the right track.
