“I have raced a lot of cars between concrete walls…and a lot of cars at night,” said Gidley. “But to race stand-up Jet Ski’s at night and under the lights…these water racers are even crazier than I imagined!”

This “unique’ race was held in conjunction with the City of Suisun’s “Hot August Nights” celebrations on the water which included live music, vendors, and a few thousand people enjoying the water front bash.  “It was awesome to be part of Suisun’s Hot August Nights because the fan turnout and interest was phenomenal,” said Gidley”.  “I even had a number of people come up that had heard my name over the event PA and recognized me from cars, come up and talk to me in-disbelief that I was racing a jet ski.”

With his third place finish overall, Gidley who is currently second in points, closed up to within 40 points of the series leader.  “It was a really fun weekend and my hats off to the race promoter and all the event workers,” said Gidley. “Now I look forward to more fun this next weekend racing the #77 McDonalds Daytona Prototype at Watkins Glen.“

Memo Gidley currently drives for the #77 McDonalds Daytona Prototype in the Rolex Grand-Am Series for Doran Racing. The next race takes place at the Crown Royal 200 at Watkins Glen raceway this weekend August 6-7th.  You can catch all the action August 7th on SPEED Channel at 8pm.
